Like fingerprints and snowflakes, no two faces are alike. The image of each face wordlessly tells a story of that individual’s lived experience. But when we look at the faces collectively, an entirely different story gets told: That story tells the tale of our intertwined, diverse, ever-changing, and constantly evolving interdependent lives. When we look at these faces through that lens, we can perhaps see that beyond each face’s unique features, there is a commonality we all share. Moreover, embracing that commonality can help us cultivate greater acceptance of, curiosity about, and love regarding our shared humanity. After all, “we all do better when we all do better,” (P. Wellstone).
